Who?
At the age of 17, I set out on a journey to the US, leaving my family behind in war-torn Balkans. The beginning was very challenging, but I managed to get my education. Within a few years I got married and became a father of three wonderful boys. Along the way, I started various businesses; some failed, but those failures became valuable lessons that paved the way for successful ventures.
On the surface people saw me as a success story, a provider, a family man. Deep down, I carried a burden—a lingering void that grew with each passing day. I was consumed by work, leaving me little time with my boys. It was like a missing piece in my life that no amount of financial success or accomplishments could fill.
Than, one day, everything crumbled—the dreadful reality of divorce after nearly 17 years of marriage. It forced me to face myself and reevaluate … Everything.
Why?
That brings me to the “WHY” part in my journey. Going through divorce I wanted equal time with the boys. I realized that having a business made that impossible. I sold the business and went from working all the time to meal prepping and doing laundry. My mindset shifted.
Instead of pursuing financial success at any cost, I committed to pursuing parental excellence at any cost. I was ill equipped, which made my experience scarier than anything I’ve gone through before. I learned mostly by making mistakes. Ultimately, being present in their lives was the most important thing.
7 long years have gone by since I made those fateful choices. Years that shaped me into a very different person – a proud father, cherishing family values above all else.
Now, I want to share those hard-earned lessons with you. So please follow me, learn something new, or just have a laugh at my expense. Sometimes the best comedy comes from other people’s misery.
